You’ve probably had already used Zoom meetings or Microsoft Teams, or other virtual meeting tools to connect with your colleagues or others who’ve had cool virtual backgrounds. Sometimes it might have non-stable image weird effects so that Green Screen will provide you with more professional results.
Green Screen has come to a long history for the sake of technology; however, now you can easily use it in your home just with affordable equipment and a few technical know-how. All you need is a few things: A green or blue piece of fabric, a camera, lights, and a bunch of choice of video conferencing/editing apps.
Step 1: Get Green Screen Background
To get a piece of muslin backdrop cloth of either green or blue colour according to your project preferences. A collapsible green screen panel is a good option and convenient to set up the background quickly. Depending on your project, you can choose different sizes of background. If you don’t need to move a lot or sit still, you don’t have to choose a big one.
Step 2: Choose the Camera
You can choose a Camera or Webcam with HD quality (720p, 1080p or above) or even use iPhone etc. Using a built-in webcam on the computer is easy for you to sit and talk; however, if you don’t directly face that computer, a camera on a stand can have more flexibility to face you directly with adjustable focus.
Step 3: Setup the Lighting
To make the green screen work perfect, the most important thing is to make the green colour smooth even. So if you could eliminate the more possible shadows on the green screen, you would get better effective results. Thus you don’t stay too close to the green screen to cast a shadow on it if natural lighting doesn’t have good results, consider Soft box with LED bulbs for an extra lighting kit.
Step 4: Try the OBS Software
Zoom Meeting has the Green Screen option for the virtual background to make better results for effect. Sometimes, if your background is too complicated and you will have the virtual background greyed out, you don’t have a real green screen. By using OBS open source software, you instantly have the free professional video production suite. The tip is to turn on the video source Chroma-Key Filter and choose the green colour. You can even make it as a virtual video source for other live video streaming apps.
Step 5: Connect with Virtual Conference Apps
Many Virtual Meeting Apps already support virtual backgrounds or even motion virtual backgrounds either by offering choices of theme images, cartoon pictures, or motion graphics, and you can upload your logo banners. Some Virtual Conference Apps even support OBS Virtual Camera so that you can make share screen experiences up to a new level and make the conference much more amazing!
